Kalypsoweb Clustered DNS Overview

Kalypsoweb is proud to be one of the few web hosting companies who has successfuly implemented and utilize cPanel's inherent clustered DNS solution with all of our cPanel servers. The purpose of having stand alone DNS servers is to:

1. Eliminate a single point of failure by moving BIND off of the local cPanel servers and having DNS Bind running on two different servers in a clustered configuration of the other cPanel web servers. So if Bind were to fail on one server, it will pick up on the other as it was meant to.

2. Centralize DNS nameservers to where Kalypsoweb will have just two nameservers, no matter which server your account resides on, instead of having two seperate localized nameservers for each cPanel server. This will eliminate any confusion as to trying to figure out which nameserver belongs to which server.

3. Allow more control when moving accounts from one server to another with very little to no downtime. In the past, when moving accounts due to server issues where the server would need to be taken offline for repairs, the client would need to change their nameservers with their registrars, then we would have to wait for it to fully resolve to the new server before repairing the old one. With a centralized, clustered DNS configuration, we have eliminated the need to having to change the nameservers when an issue arises. Also there is no longer a need to wait for the domain name to resolve since the nameservers never change, allowing us to move the account and begin repairs immediately on the trouble server.
